CoastNet works hard to bring additional resources to Jaywick and IMCORE is a European funded project that enables us to do just that. In recent years there has been lots of talk about climate change but it is sometimes difficult to understand what it means in practise, day to day.
IMCORE is about how we work out what climate change means for us, our communities and the places we live in. The project brings together expertise from universities and other organisations from around north west Europe to develop new approaches to make this task easier.
Nine case study sites in coastal areas around North West Europe are producing action plans to help places and organisations adapt to climate change. That is, a plan to guide how we should change what we do from day to day and year to year. Some of these action plans focus on national organisations or what local councils do. In Jaywick, CoastNet is working with community leaders to develop a community-led action plan containing simple actions that can be achieved by individuals and groups – from picking up litter, to more complicated things such as organised beach activities.
